Museum Education Internship Position (1 position available)

The Forney Museum is looking for a passionate student or recent graduate who has interest or knowledge and experience in education to assist with educational programming.
The Education Intern will assist the Education Coordinator with developing education programming for the museum that corresponds with the Core Knowledge Curriculum Standards as well as the Colorado State Education Standards for Social Studies. Additionally, outreach programming can be developed that will appeal to vocational and trade schools. These programs could include tours, workshops, day camps, lectures, etc.
The Education Intern will also help with giving tours of the museum as well as developing new tour content to fit with any exhibit changes that have happened to the space.
Another major project for this internship will be the development of at least one educational exhibit for the main museum space. This exhibit will correlate directly with the goals of the Forney Museum as an educational institution and make use of collection pieces already within the museum. Additional duties may arise as necessary.
The work schedule for this position will be flexible with the schedule of the intern, but must coincide with the operating hours of the museum (Monday-Saturday 10 am – 4 pm and Sunday 12 pm – 4 pm). This internship will last a minimum of three months.
This is an unpaid internship position. Any students must receive academic credit.
Must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation: lift and/or push up to 50 lbs, stretch, and walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time.

Marketing Internship Position (1 position available)

The Forney Museum is looking for a passionate student or recent graduate who has interest or knowledge and experience in marketing and outreach to help the museum expand its current audience.
The Marketing Intern will be responsible for assisting the museum with marketing to a broad audience particularly through open source and free media. This includes being able to think creatively about how to reach currently untapped groups of people in the most effective ways.
This intern will also help with the marketing of museum events, both large and small, as well as the coordinating of any events held at the museum. Additional duties may arise as needed.
